Finding the right grant to go after can be one of the hardest things to do in your pursuit of grant funding. When looking at grant programs it is important to pick a funder with initiatives that align with your organization’s mission. Along with determining consistent alignment, you must also make sure you are eligible and consider the particulars of the grant. These particulars include the amount of funding available, the maximum and minimum award amounts, the deadline, funding period, required activities, reporting activities and partnership requirements.
There are distinct requirements for Federal, State or foundation funders. Sometimes you will see consistencies between them, but most of the time they are different. To shake things up a bit more, federal departments and state departments also have varying requirements and methods to providing grant funding. The only way to truly learn if a funder or grant competition is a good fit for you is to dig into the grant guidelines (also known as the RFP, RFA, NOFO, or NOFA) and read the particulars of the competition. Another challenge is determining the information important to your organization and understanding the grant lingo present in the guidelines.
However! It doesn’t have to be this way. Resource Associates can assist you in determining if a grant program is right for your organization. We call it the Grant Research Opportunity (GRO) Report service. One of Resource Associates’ expert grant management specialists will meet with you to discuss your organization’s needs and gather the details necessary to determine your eligibility for the majority of grant funding available. Information we’ll gather will help us determine the amount of money you are seeking, the initiatives you plan to implement, and the potential partners you have secured (or could secure in the future). We suggest growth goals for your organization that will make you eligible for additional grant opportunities and provide a timeline of when these grants will be released.
Once you have provided us with the necessary information needed to find the best grants available to you, we dive deep into the library of grants we have written over the last two decades and research current funding opportunity announcements to find your best fit. Once we have found the best-suited grants, we put them into an easy-to-read table that outlines the particulars of the program(s), including deadline, eligibility, purpose, award amount and partnering requirements. We also provide a link to the grant guidelines so you can go directly to the information source and review it, if you desire.
Once the report is complete, we set up a call to discuss each of these opportunities and answer any questions you may have. We will prioritize these grants and provide you with tasks to complete before the announcement’s release so you are already one step ahead of the game.
When it comes to researching grants, it can be an intimidating and complicated process, but it doesn’t have to be that way. With the GRO Report provided by Resource Associates you will be able to focus on the important things, like determining your needs, designing your program, and developing partnerships so you are ready to win.
