VISUAL MEDIA AND CURRENT TECHNOLOGY USE ASSESSMENT

Several of our education specialists are nationally recognized experts in the field of integrating visual and technology media into the classroom. For the Visual Media and Current Technology Use Assessment service, our specialists can measure the level of use (and the effectiveness of use) of these vital strategies by your teaching staff. The assessment is based on best practices and research-based approaches to technology integration in K-12 classrooms. The specialists will also develop a detailed report of their findings along with an action plan that can be use for addressing the areas of need specific to your school.

TECHNOLOGY INTEGRATION

This is a custom designed training for teachers that will show them how to use advanced technologies with their students – guiding them on how to conduct unique classroom projects while students master academic content. Your Resource Associates trainer will be an experienced classroom teacher with technology integration expertise and/or a technology integration professional who will discuss and demonstrate different types of technology and their uses for various subject matter. Your trainer will further share examples of lesson plans and projects that other teachers throughout the country are using in their high tech classrooms.

VISUAL LITERACY AND THE DIGITAL NATIVE

Learn how to capitalize on digital natives’ learning styles. See examples of how to integrate more images, audio, and video into your classroom instruction. Also find out how and where to get free online resources to enhance your current classroom lessons.

RESEARCH STRATEGIES AND GRAPHIC ORGANIZERS

Learn how to use effective and efficient search strategies and how to organize information. Kidspiration/Inspiration and other software graphic organizers will also be discussed during this interactive training.

UNITED STREAMING

During this training session, you will learn how to use streaming video for classroom instruction and understand how to navigate and access the extra features of this online database from Discovery.

NETTREKKER

NetTrekker is a subscription-based, award-winning, educator approved search engine. Over 180,000 pre-approved NetTrekker sites are correlated to state standards and Lexile reading levels. Searches can be differentiated to return images, video, audio, maps, charts, primary sources, etc. – and it has a read-aloud feature. Learn how to raise academic achievement with this innovative educational resource.

iTECHNOLOGY: iPOD-iPADS-iTUNES

Learn how to use iTunes and ipods in an educational setting. See examples of successful student and teacher podcasts and audio files that support the social networking nature of today’s students.

USING AUDIO IN THE CLASSROOM

How can GarageBand and Audacity be used to create audio files and enhance classroom learning? Scripting a narration can be correlated to state standards and can actually provide an alternate assessment of the level of conceptual understanding. Both students and teachers will have the opportunity to narrate video or slideshow projects during this fun, full day training.

USING VIDEO IN THE CLASSROOM

Learn how dynamic video is used for instruction in today’s high tech classroom. Teacher and student created videos can motivate a learner and generate creativity (the newest, highest level added to Bloom’s). iMovie or MovieMaker or PhotoStory formats available.

DIGITAL STORYTELLING

Learn how to incorporate PhotoStory and VoiceThread into the classroom learning environment. Any subject level or content area can adapt the process of uploading images and voicing over to describe, support, or explain a concept or perspective. You will also learn how students can apply their own technology application skills while working inside a content area.

BLOGS, WIKIS, AND PODCASTS…OH MY!

Understand the advantages of using Web 2.0 tools to promote collaboration and communication in the school environment. Professional development applications are also included. During this session, your teachers will learn how to create a blog, wikis, and audio files to post as podcasts.

GOOGLE EARTH: BEYOND WHERE’S MY HOUSE?

How can this free online program be used in social studies, math, or language arts classes? Many features are unknown to the casual user and have tremendous application for educators.

Learn how to use the main Google Applications such as Google Notebook, Google Shared Documents and Spreadsheets, Presentation, and more!
