Grant System Registration

You can avoid grant submission trouble when GrantWriters coordinates your system registrations and accounts.

Funders Require Active Registration

The days of writing and submitting grant proposals by mail or email are over.

Most funders now require applicants to register for their electronic grant submission portals. To qualify to submit a grant, the funder’s specific registration process must be approved and active. Before you decide to write a grant, read the submission registration requirements in the RFP. It is possible to be eligible to apply for a grant but not registered to submit the grant. An attempt to submit would result in a denial from the funder.

Grant registration systems, like grants.gov and SAM.gov can take weeks to apply and receive active approval for submission.

Why is this important? Because grants are time-sensitive to deadlines. A grant opportunity is only available to applicants for a limited amount of time. This can be months or a few weeks. This means you can easily miss grant deadlines if you are not continually registered and active. Imagine finding the perfect grant opportunity but not being eligible to apply because you aren’t registered.

Eliminate the headache and risk involved with managing your own grant submission system registrations. Choose peace of mind by handing your grant registration management to GrantWriters.

Over the years, hundreds of nonprofits have contacted us – telling stories about how their 100+ page grant proposal could not be submitted due to a glitch in the registration system or due to not checking their registration status.

GrantWriters offers reliable Grant System Registration support. We take care of each step of the registration process, check in on your status before grant writing begins, and keep your information protected.

If you’re planning to apply for any grants in the next year, GrantWriters suggests taking the time to apply and secure active registration on the most common submission portals as an annual task on your “to do” list.

If you are an active grant seeker, it’s best to plan for no less than one month’s time (if not longer) to secure and recheck registration status on the relevant submission portal(s).

Grant registrations are time consuming and can easily fall through the cracks. With various emails coming in from these systems and multi-level verifications required, it’s easy to make mistakes.

Frequently Asked Questions about Grant System Registration

Is Grant System Registration really needed?

Grant system registration is indeed necessary if you want to apply for funding. Skipping or neglecting this step could result in your application being disqualified or overlooked. So, if you’re considering applying for a grant, be sure to carefully review the application requirements, including any registration procedures, to ensure you’re meeting all the necessary criteria.

What system registrations will be needed?

The specific grant system registration you need to register for depends on the grant programs you’re interested in applying to for federal grants, you will need to be registered in SAM.gov and Grants.gov. Depending on the funder and RFP, there are possibly additional portals that you may need to be registered such as but not limited to eRA commons and Justgrants. State and local funded grants may have their own submission portal that you would need to be registered to, this is usually in addition to SAM.gov. Before applying for any grant, carefully review the application instructions and requirements provided by the funding organization.

What is the system registration process?

Grant System registration can vary depending on the type of grant. Federal grant system registration involves providing information about your organization, such as contact details, legal structure, financial information, TIN (taxpayer identification number) and provide or obtain a UEI number. During registration, you’ll need to complete various forms depending on the type of entity you are registering (e.g., individual, business, government agency). “A few years ago, the team from GrantWriters flew out to San Diego to assist us with our very first grant write. The first thing they did was take care of the registration for SAM and Grants.gov. GrantWriters has been managing our accounts for several years now. It’s so nice knowing our grant registrations are in good hands with GrantWriters. I can’t imagine trusting anyone else with this important element of grant submission.”
